MBBS Admission Circular 2024-25: Govt and Private Medical Colleges

Many students in Bangladesh aspire to study MBBS in medical colleges. In this country, one has to apply for admission to government and private medical colleges after the HSC or equivalent exam results. Students have to participate in an admission test. The MBBS admission Circular 2024-25 has already been published. The admission circular has announced the eligibility, the application rules, and the roadmap. Admission activities will be completed as per the announcement.

Like in previous years, this year, the admission process for government and private medical colleges in the country will be completed in an integrated system. Students will be admitted to all government and private medical colleges based on the results of a single admission test. After the admission test results are published, the admission process for government medical colleges will start. Admission to private medical colleges will begin after the admission process in government medical colleges is completed. Admission will be completed based on the published merit list.

MBBS Admission 2024-25

The Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) has published the MBBS Admission Circular 2024-2025. Earlier, the policy for admission to government and private medical and dental colleges for MBBS and BDS was published.

According to the MBBS Admission Circular, the application will start on 11th January 2025 and end on 23rd January 2025. The admission test will be held on 9th February 2025. Let’s take a look at the roadmap for MBBS Admission 2024-2025.

Eligibility

To participate in the MBBS Admission Test 2024-2025, students must have the following qualifications.

  1. The applicant must be a citizen of Bangladesh.
  2. (a) Students who wish to participate in the admission test in the academic year 2024-2025 must have passed the HSC/’A’ Level/equivalent exam in 2024 and the SSC/’O’ Level/equivalent exam in 2022 or the HSC/’A’ Level/equivalent exam in 2023 and the SSC/’O’ Level/equivalent exam in 2021. The condition is that the student must have passed the SSC/’O’ Level/equivalent exam within 02 (two) years before the HSC/’A’ Level/equivalent exam.

    (b) Students must have passed the SSC/’O’ Level or equivalent examination from the Science group. They must have the compulsory subjects of the Science group in the HSC/’A’ Level or equivalent examination, including Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.
  1. The minimum GPA in SSC/’O’ Level/equivalent and HSC/’A’ Level/equivalent exams should be 9.00.
  2. For non-indigenous candidates from small ethnic groups in hilly districts, the total GPA in SSC/’O’ Level/equivalent and HSC/’A’ Level/equivalent exams should be at least 8.00. However, if the GPA is less than 3.50 in any one examination, the application will be considered canceled.
  3. If the minimum grade point in Biology in the HSC/’A’ Level/equivalent examination is not 4.00, the application will be considered canceled.

Application Form

Before submitting the application form online, read the instructions carefully and submit it carefully according to them. All activities for filling out the admission form have to be completed online.

While filling out the MBBS Admission Application form online, an examination fee of 1000/—(one thousand) taka must be paid from the Teletalk prepaid number. After submitting the fee, the submitted application cannot be changed, and it will be finally accepted. To fill out the MBBS Admission form online, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to the website dgme.teletalk.com.bd.
  2. Click on the link of your designated curriculum.
  3. In the next step, provide your SSC/equivalent, HSC/equivalent, and other information.
  4. In the next step, complete the application form with the necessary information.
  5. Fill in the quota information carefully.
  6. Provide your order of preference.
  7. Upload a 300×300 pixel color photo (jpg) of yourself. File size should not exceed 100 kb.
  8. Upload a 300×300 pixel scanned signature of yourself.
  9. Check all information carefully and submit if correct.
  10. Download and print or save the Applicant’s Copy.
  11. Pay the application fee as per the instructions in the Applicant’s Copy.

Application Fee

After successfully applying for MBBS admission online, the applicant must pay the prescribed fee. Even if the application is made online, the candidate’s application will not be accepted if the fee is not paid. An application fee of 1000 taka has to be paid through Teletalk. When paying the application fee, the candidate must select the center for the admission test. Payment Procedures are given below.

1st SMS: Go to the Message option of your Teletalk prepaid mobile phone, type MBBS, write your User ID with a space, and send an SMS to 16222.

Example: Type MBBS<Space>FRLGCT and send to 16222. Here FRLGCT is the User ID obtained after filling out the form

After that, a return SMS will ask for consent by giving a PIN, the candidate’s name, and the information of deducting 1000/—(one thousand) taka as the exam fee. To give consent, an SMS has to be sent to 16222 in the following way.

2nd SMS: Go to the Message option, type MBBS, write YES with space, write PIN with space, write a maximum of four Centre Codes of your choice with space, and send the SMS to 16222.

Example: Type MBBS<Space>YES<Space>456789<Space>19,38,47,26 and send to 16222. Here 456789 is the PIN Number found in the previous return SMS, and the numbers 19,38,47,26 are the code numbers of the examination center.

If the PIN is written correctly, only 1000/—(one thousand) taka will be deducted from the Teletalk prepaid mobile for the examination fee. The candidate will be given a User ID and Password by informing the name of the examination center in the return SMS.

Center List

When paying the application fee through Teletalk, the candidate has to select the center for his admission test. Four center codes have to be informed via SMS. The candidate’s admission test will be scheduled at a center according to preference. The center codes are as follows.

Medical Admission Circular 2024

Marks Distribution

The SMBBS Admission test 2024-2025 will be held according to the HSC/equivalent examination syllabus.

A 1 (one) hour written examination of 100 (one hundred) MCQs of 100 (one hundred) marks will be held. Subject-wise marks distribution in the written examination:

  • Biology 30;
  • Chemistry 25;
  • Physics 20;
  • English 15;
  • General Knowledge (History of Bangladesh and Liberation War)

For each wrong answer in the written examination, 0.25 marks will be deducted. Those who get less than 40 marks in the written examination will be considered failed.

Admit Card Download

All applicants must participate in the admission test with the prescribed admit card. The admit card must be downloaded between 5 February and 7 February. It cannot be downloaded outside the stipulated time. DGME will inform the applicant about the admit card download via SMS. The candidate can download the admit card by logging in to the admission website with his designated user ID and password.

Results

The merit list will be prepared based on the sum of the marks obtained in the written admission test and the marks obtained in the SSC/’O’ Level/equivalent and HSC/’A’ Level/equivalent examinations.

The merit list will be determined by subtracting 05 (five) marks from the total (aggregated) marks of the candidates who passed the HSC/’A’ level/equivalent examination in the previous year and 10 (ten) marks from the total marks in the case of students admitted to government medical colleges or dental colleges/units in the previous year.

The results of the admission test can be found on the Directorate of Health Education’s website. In addition, the students on the merit list will be informed about the results through SMS.

Migrations

After admission from the merit list is completed, the migration process will start. Migration will be completed automatically based on the student’s order of preference. After one or more migrations, admission will be completed from the waiting list. Migration results will be published on the Directorate General of Medical Education’s website.
