The BUET Admission Process 2024-25 has started with the admission circular publication. The notice has been published on the university’s admission website, ugadmission.buet.ac.bd. According to the notice, students can apply online. A detailed prospectus and notice have been published. The prospectus contains detailed information and instructions regarding eligibility criteria, application procedures, application fee payment guidelines, admission test dates, exam format and question types, admit cards, seating arrangements, and admission test results.
BUET Admission 2024-25
The BUET Admission Circular 2024-2025 has been published. The prospectus and other information have been released alongside the admission notice. A roadmap, including the preliminary application deadline, has been announced per the published notice. Like the previous year, the admission test will be in two stages. A shortlist will be prepared after the preliminary application. Applicants on the shortlist will have to participate in a Preliminary Selection Test or MCQ exam. Students who pass the preliminary exam will be eligible for the main admission test.

Application Eligibility
To Apply for the BUET Admission 2024-25, candidates must have the following Eligibilities.
- The candidate must have passed the Secondary School Certificate/Dakhil/equivalent examination with a minimum GPA of 4.00 on a scale of 5.00 in the Science division (including Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) from any Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board/Madrasa Education Board/Technical Education Board of Bangladesh or have passed an equivalent examination from a foreign education board with at least an equivalent grade.
- The candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary/Alim/equivalent examination with a GPA of 5.00 on a scale of 5.00 and a minimum GPA of 5.00 in each of the subjects Higher Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry from any Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board/Madrasa Education Board/Technical Education Board of Bangladesh or have passed an equivalent examination from a foreign education board with at least an equivalent grade/number.
- Candidates who passed the Secondary or equivalent examination in 2021 and the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination in 2023 but whose revised results for the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination were received from the Education Board after March 12, 2024, must have passed the Higher Secondary/Alim/equivalent examination with a GPA of 5.00 on a scale of 5.00 and a minimum GPA of 5.00 in each of the subjects Higher Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry from any Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board/Madrasa Education Board/Technical Education Board of Bangladesh or have passed an equivalent examination from a foreign education board with at least an equivalent grade/number.
- Candidates who have passed GCE “O” Level and GCE “A” Level must have passed with a minimum grade of B in each of the five subjects (including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English) in the GCE “O” Level examination and a minimum grade of A in any two of the three subjects Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the GCE “A” Level examination and a minimum grade of B in one subject to participate in the pre-selection examination.
- Subject to fulfilling the minimum qualifications, all eligible applicants who have obtained the results of GCE “O” Level and GCE “A” Level examinations will be selected on the basis of the specified grades mentioned above, and all applicants from 1st to 400th will be allowed to participate in the pre-selection examination. For this selection, the grades obtained in Mathematics and Physics in the GCE “A” Level examination will be considered in the order of priority, respectively.
- All eligible applicants belonging to ethnic minorities will be given the opportunity to participate in the pre-selection examination, subject to fulfilling the minimum qualifications.
Admission Form
BUET Admission Form 2024-25 for the admission test can be filled out online, and the application fee can be paid as described on BUET’s website. No printed forms will be sold, and application fees cannot be paid by any means other than mobile/online banking as described on the website.
To participate in the examination, you must follow the prescribed steps (STEPS). However, it should be specifically mentioned that the application will not be considered “finally submitted” unless “all steps are completed.”
- The required form must be duly filled through the university website (www.buet.ac.bd), and a recent passport-size colour photograph of the applicant (approximately 300×350 pixels and maximum 75 KB size) and signature (scanned or photographed, approximately 300×80 pixels and maximum 20 KB size) must be uploaded. It is mandatory that the photograph and signature be in JPEG format only. No stamp or attestation may be made on this photograph. No blurring or distortion of any kind is acceptable in the photograph and signature. It should be noted that the applicant’s photograph and signature will be checked at the preliminary evaluation examination.
- After filling all the required information in the application form, click on the “preview” button to see the completed form with photo and signature on the “Preview of Application” page. At this stage, if any information needs to be corrected, it can be edited by clicking on the “Update” button.
- If all the information, photo and signature are correct on the “Preview of Application” page mentioned above, click the “submit” button to submit the application. Note that the application will not be considered final until the “Final Submit” button is clicked.
- If the application is submitted correctly, a “Confirmation Page” will be received which will contain a unique Application Serial No. along with necessary instructions. Clicking on the “Download Receipt of Application” button located at the bottom of this page will automatically generate a PDF version of the “Receipt of Application” of the online application, which should be printed and saved.
- Only in case of certain applicants, E, T, S or R mark will be given in the “Receipt of Application” of the application form for the reason indicated.
Fee Payment
After completing the BUET Admission Application, the application fee must be paid. Payment of application fee (non-refundable) through mobile/online banking must be made in 2 stages of admission and fee for admission test according to the group described in the table below.

Special Note: All applicants have to pay 400 taka while filling up the online application. Later, those applicants who will be selected to participate in the pre-selection test will have to pay 800 taka for ‘A’ group and 1000 taka for ‘B’ group in the 2nd phase and download the Admit Card for participating in the pre-selection test.
Application Fee Payment Instructions
The method of depositing the application fee will be duly informed on the university website (www.buet.ac.bd).
Money Receipt and Final Submission
Once an applicant pays the application fee correctly, he/she can download the PDF version of the money receipt by clicking on the “Download Money Receipt” link from the university website. An applicant will be considered to have finally submitted the application by clicking on the “Final Submit” button on the website.
Eligible Candidates List
All eligible applicants from 1st to 18000th will be allowed to participate in the pre-selection examination. For this selection, the total marks obtained in higher mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in the higher secondary/equivalent examination and the marks obtained in higher mathematics and Physics will be considered as priority, respectively.
The admission test for Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) will be held in two phases.
First the pre-selection admission test will be held. The preliminary admission test will be of 100 marks in MCQ method.
Those who will pass the MCQ test will get a chance to participate in the main admission test. The main admission test will be written.
Admit Card Download
After the publication of the list of candidates eligible to participate in the pre-selection examination, an eligible applicant has to deposit the prescribed fee and click on the “Download Admit Card” link from the university website to download the PDF version of the admit card for the pre-selection examination and take a print out on A4 size white paper.
Later, after the publication of the list of candidates eligible to participate in the main admission test through the pre-selection test, an eligible applicant has to click on the “Download Admit Card” link from the university website again to download the PDF version of the admit card for the main admission test and print it on A4 size white paper.
No applicant will be allowed to participate in the pre-selection and main admission test without a valid Admit Card.
BUET Admit Card 2024
BUET Admit Card 2025 has been published. The admit card for the admission test 2024-25 for the preliminary selection test has been published on 26 December 2024. Only eligible candidates can download the admit card for the preliminary and written admission test for MCQ and final admission test. The admit card can be downloaded from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology admission website ugadmission.buet.ac.bd till 23 January 2024.
How to Download BUET Admit Card?
- First go to the admission website ugadmission.buet.ac.bd.
- Go to the admit card download option.
- Login with your application ID and date of birth.
- Download and print the admit card.

Admission Test Mark Distribution
Subjects, type of question paper and marks distribution for BUET Admission 2024-25 pre-selection examination:
A total of 100 marks MCQ Type examination will be held for ‘A’ and ‘B’ groups in the pre-selection examination. The subjects of the examination and the full marks of the subjects are given in the table below:

Special Note:
- The value of each question is 1.
- There will be negative marking in the pre-selection examination and 25% of the value of the question will be deducted from the obtained marks for each wrong answer.
- Circles should be filled in the OMR Sheet only with black ink ballpoint pen. Gel pen, fountain pen or pencil cannot be used.
- Finally, an approved calculator can be used for -ফ work.
- No calculating device, including mobile phone and smart watch, geometry box, pencil box, scale, set-square, compass and any kind of bag can be brought to the examination hall.
- If Admission Test Roll No. and Application Serial No. are not written or erased on the answer sheet, the answer sheet will be considered cancelled.
Subjects, type of question paper and distribution of marks for main admission test:
A written examination of total 400 marks for ‘A’ group and 800 marks for ‘B’ group will be held in the main admission test. The subjects of the examination for each group and the full marks of the subjects are given in the table below:

Special Note:
- In the main admission test, all questions and full marks of each subject of Module A and Module B will be given in the given method. There will be no MCQ Type questions in any subject.
- The value of each question in Module A is 10. The value of each question in Freehand Drawing of Module B is 122, the value of each question related to Visual and Spatial Intelligence is 16. 2B pencil should be used in freehand drawing.
- Only pen, pencil, eraser, sharpener and approved calculator of measuring instrument can be used during admission test.
- No electronic or telecommunication device including mobile phone and smart watch, geometry box, pencil box, scale, set-square, compass and any kind of bag can be brought to the examination hall.
- Sample questions for the main admission test will be available on the university website (www.buet.ac.bd).
Admission Test Result
BUET Admission Result 2025 has been published. The preliminary examination (MCQ) results were published on 04 February 2025. BUET preliminary exam results can be downloaded in PDF format from the undergraduate admission website ugadmission.buet.ac.bd. Separate results have been published for Shift-1 and Shift-2 for KA and KHA groups. The preliminary admission test was held on 23 January 2025. BUET MCQ Result 2025 (Preliminary Selection Result)
BUET Admission Result 2025 has been published. BUET selection result 2025 has been published on 04 February 2024. BUET preliminary result for MCQ exam can be checked through the admission website ugadmission.buet.ac.bd. BUET MCQ Result 2025 for first and second shift can be downloaded from below.
Only eligible candidates will be able to participate in the final admission test. The main admission test will be written. It will be held on 13 February 2025. 1500 candidates have been selected for the written admission test from each shift. Admit cards for the written test will be issued from 04 February 2025. Admit card can be downloaded after filling up the option selection form. The results of the pre-selection examination 2024-25 are given below as downloadable PDF files.

BUET Written Result 2024
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) written examination 2024-2025 was held on 13 February 2025. After that, BUET final result will be published. According to the BUET admission roadmap 2024-25, BUET written exam result has been published today on 08 March 2025. However, it was supposed to be published by 08 March 2025. It has been published much earlier than the scheduled date. Admission process and notification along with merit list and waiting list have been published. The next process of admission will start from March 2025.
